Finalised social and health care reform

Residents of Finland must be able to access medical services quickly and within a reasonable distance regardless of their place of residence. The health and welfare differences between the various population groups must be narrowed. The social and health care services need to co-operate more efficiently with one another. The focus needs to shift to basic services, health promotion and the prevention of problems. To achieve this, we must see the social and health care reform through to completion.

Funding for social and health care services should be simplified and clarified towards a single-channel system. Customers must have an increased freedom of choice in terms of services.
Data systems must be upgraded so that they function well, thereby allowing employees more time for customer interactions. A single portal with compatible systems for social and health care services must be taken into use by 2019.
